Notes and folders
Everything in a workspace lives in the tree down the left. It is a tree like a checklist is a tree, and it takes the same keys wherever it honestly can — if you have learned one, you have learned most of this.
Folders
A folder holds notes and other folders. It has a page of its own with what is in it, who can reach it, and its settings, and it can be given a colour so a branch is recognisable at a glance.
A folder can also keep a diary: one note per day, made the first time somebody opens the workspace that day, from a template if you have given it one. Days that have already gone can be filled in.
Moving things
Drag a row onto another to put it inside, or between two rows to reorder. From the keyboard, Shift+↑ and Shift+↓ move a row among its neighbours, and Shift+→ tucks it into the folder above while Shift+← takes it back out, landing just after the folder it left.
What is folded is yours, like a checklist's folds: collapsing a folder does not collapse it for anybody else.
Sharing
Access is granted on a folder or on a single note, to one person at a time, and it only ever raises what somebody can do — there is no way to take something away from one person that everybody else keeps. A workspace where you are given one folder shows you that folder: the rest is not hidden, it is absent.
A note can also be shared by link, for somebody without an account. That link reaches exactly one note, at exactly the level you chose.
Searching
The box at the top of the tree searches the whole workspace: note bodies, checklist items, card descriptions, map nodes, and the text read out of files you have attached. It only ever finds what you are allowed to read.
The Overview
The Overview entry is the workspace's own page: what changed lately, and the way to files, templates, people, deleted notes and exports. It is also where a workspace's settings are reached from.
Every key
The tree in the sidebar. Press Esc from a note to reach it, and Esc again to go back — the whole tree is one Tab stop, so Tab still gets you out of the sidebar in a single press.
- Moving the cursor opens nothing. Enter is what opens a note, which is the one place this tree is not a checklist: every row here has a destination, and a tree that loaded a page as you arrowed through it could not be walked from top to bottom at all.
- Tab is not taken here, on purpose. On a checklist it indents, and it can, because the checklist is the whole note — a sidebar that swallowed Tab would be one you could get into and not out of. What indenting does is on Shift and the left and right arrows, which is what those keys mean on a board as well.
- A move that cannot happen does nothing, the way Tab does nothing on a checklist row with no previous sibling to go under. Only a folder can hold anything, and there is no level above the top one. A move the server refuses — a folder into its own child, or one you may only read — says so, because a key that went quiet there would be one you could not tell from a key that is not bound.
